Please Note: As of February 1, 2024 Ceridian Cares will no longer accept the following types of grant requests:

  • Ongoing long-term therapies needed for more than 6 months, such as physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic, etc, without a specified short/medium-term goal or outcome.
  • Personal recreation: Camps, sports, recreational programs, art supplies, athletic programs, etc. Note: Special-needs programs excepted.
  • Help to pay off personal loans or general credit card debt.
  • Long-term rentals of medical equipment, or subscriptions for ongoing long-term medical services.
  • Respite services
  • Electronics for recreational use

Please Note: As of February 1, 2024 additional parameters are in place for the following grant types:

  • For assistance with rent or mortgage:
    • We do not cover rental security deposits.
    • Recipient must not be more than 1 month in arrears and must not be threatened with eviction at the time of application submission. Ceridian Cares is not intended to operate as an emergency care agency; we require 90 days for a response on applications, and therefore cannot assist in emergency situations such as threat of eviction. If you are in this situation, please reach out to local social service agencies who can support you through this challenging time. You are still eligible to apply for a Ceridian Cares grant for other needs.
  • If the request is for general basic needs (food, diapers, etc.) with a request of over $250, the applicant must provide an itemized list with estimated costs at time of application. This can include screenshots of an online shopping cart from vendors such as Walmart or Amazon.
  • If the request is for a portion of a larger expense (for example a request for $3,000 toward something that costs $10,000), the applicant must confirm upfront—at time of application—that funds have already been secured for the balance of the needed amount.

Granting Policies

Introduction

Ceridian Cares is committed to being an employee driven charity that makes a difference supporting people and improving communities in which we live and work. To that end, Ceridian Cares intends to make grants to eligible recipients in range from $200 to $5,000 to support people and improve our communities.

The funds available for grants to eligible recipients is based on donations received by Ceridian Cares Canada from employees of Ceridian and its affiliates and other supporters of Ceridian Cares Canada. The discretion to determine funding rests solely with the Ceridian Cares Granting Committees and its Board of Directors.

Grant Process

To apply for a grant, an applicant must be at least 18 years of age and must complete the Application for Grant form. The recipient of the grant may be any age, but an applicant can submit on behalf of a recipient.

The Application for Grant and all supporting documentation must be received by Ceridian Cares Canada prior to consideration for a grant. If any information is missing or the application is incomplete, it will be returned for completion resulting in a delay in evaluating the request. If missing documentation is not provided within 6 weeks of the original request to Ceridian Cares Canada, the application will not be processed and will be closed.

Grant decisions typically occur within 90 days of the receipt of completed Application for Grant and supporting information. You will be notified by Ceridian Cares Canada via e-mail or mail of the grant decision. All grant and funding decisions are final.

  • Recipient must have a permanent residence in Canada.
  • Ceridian Cares will not provide grants to the same recipient in consecutive years.
  • The level of funding assistance may vary based on the cost of the item and the availability of funds at the time the request is received to a maximum of $5,000.
  • The ability to fund all eligible applications received is conditional on the availability of funds.
  • The Application for Grant form and all supporting documentation must be submitted and approved prior to the award being granted.
  • If any information is missing or the application is incomplete, it will be returned for completion resulting in a delay in evaluating the request.
  • If missing documentation is not provided within 6 weeks of the request from Ceridian Cares, the application will not be processed and will be closed.
  • Applications will not be processed without proof of annual household income. If you do not have your most recent Canada Revenue Agency Notice of Assessment, contact CRA at 1-800-267-6999, or review http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/tx/ndvdls/tpcs/ncm-tx/ssmnt-eng.html
  • No additional funding for the same piece of equipment will be provided after funding is approved even if: other agencies have not fulfilled their approved funds or changed their funding criteria; items were missed in the quote; increase in size of item; additional items are required for equipment.
  • It is the recipient’s choice of which vendor is selected. If the services provided cost more than the amount of the grant, the recipient is responsible for paying the difference.
  • The recipient is responsiblefor ordering the equipment or scheduling the service after receiving our written approval.
  • Payment is made to the vendor, not the applicant/recipient.
  • Ceridian employees and family members are eligible for grants, under the same conditions as any other applicant.
  • Grant decision-making is a committee process: applicants are vetted for eligibility, then eligible applicants follow a review process which includes a committee, Ceridian Cares staff, and oversight by the Grant Allocation Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Grant decision-making typically occurs within 90 days of the receipt of the Application.
  • Funding approval is valid for 6 months from the date of approval.
  • Granting policies are subject to change at any time without notice.

This policy is subject to change at any time without notice. As a condition to apply for a grant, all applicants must agree that the decisions of Ceridian Cares Canada are final and that Ceridian Cares Canada accepts no liability in such regard.
